On July 15, China Eastern Airlines will launch a direct route from Shanghai Pudong to Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. The "Shanghai Pudong–Tbilisi" route is the airline's first service to Georgia, marking also the first direct connection from the Shanghai international aviation hub to the country. As a key step in China Eastern's strategy to deepen engagement with Countries of the Belt and Road Initiative and enhance its Eurasian route network, the new route will serve as an efficient "air bridge" for economic and trade cooperation, cultural exchange, and tourism between China and Georgia.
China Eastern's "Shanghai Pudong–Tbilisi" service, under flight numbers MU285/286, will be operated using Airbus A330 aircraft on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Outbound flight MU285 departs Shanghai Pudong International Airport at 12:50 Beijing time and arrives at Tbilisi International Airport at 19:00 local time. The return flight MU286 departs Tbilisi at 21:00 local time and arrives at Shanghai Pudong International Airport at 10:00 Beijing time the next day. Tickets for the route are now available for sale.
