In the early morning of June 5, as Himalaya Airlines flight H9986 took off from Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport bound for Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, Shenzhen Airport officially launched its first direct passenger route to Nepal. This route further expands Shenzhen Airport's route network in South Asia, providing a more convenient "air corridor" for economic and trade exchanges, cultural and tourism cooperation, and people-to-people connections between Shenzhen and Nepal, and furthering integrating the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area into the Belt and Road Initiative.
The newly launched Shenzhen–Kathmandu route is operated by Himalaya Airlines' Airbus A320. The inbound flight number is H9985, departing from Kathmandu at 21:50 local time every Tuesday and Thursday and arriving in Shenzhen at 04:30 Beijing time the next day. The outbound flight number is H9986, departing from Shenzhen at 05:55 Beijing time every Wednesday and Friday and arriving in Kathmandu at 08:35 local time.
