On July 20, 2026, China Eastern Airlines Flight MU231 carrying 239 passengers departed from Shanghai Pudong International Airport bound for Dublin, capital of Ireland, inaugurating the carrier's new direct Shanghai–Dublin air service.
The round-trip flight numbers for the route are MU231/MU232, operating every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Outbound flight MU231 is scheduled to take off from Shanghai Pudong at 01:40 Beijing Time and arrive in Dublin at 08:00 local time. Return flight MU232 departs Dublin at 10:55 local time and lands back in Shanghai at 06:00 Beijing Time the next day, with an average one-way flight time of around 13 hours.
This is the only regular passenger air route offering non-stop travel between Shanghai and Ireland. It will fully meet diversified travel demands for business, scientific exchange, education and tourism between the two countries, delivering a more efficient and convenient air link for China-Ireland economic and trade exchanges and people-to-people exchanges. The new service will also strengthen Shanghai's status as an international aviation hub with expanded air access to Europe.
