At 03:07 Beijing time on October 27, Air Algerie Flight AH3082 from Algiers, capital of Algeria, landed at Shanghai Pudong International Airport, marking the launch of the first direct passenger service between Shanghai and Algiers. A traditional water salute, a mark of the highest courtesy in civil aviation, was held at Pudong Airport to welcome the inaugural flight.

The new intercontinental service adds another destination in a Belt and Road partner country. Operated by Airbus A330 wide-body aircraft, it runs three times weekly from October 27. Outbound flights leave Pudong Airport at 06:00 Beijing time every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, arriving in Algiers at 14:00 local time. Return flights depart Algiers at 07:00 local time every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, arriving at Pudong Airport at 04:00 Beijing time the next day.
