Beidou System to Provide Chinese Navigation to Global Civil Aviation01/11/2016

 

During the 39th Session of the ICAO Assembly, the Delegation of the Chinese Government submitted a working paper on “Progress in the Beidou Navigation Satellites System and Application of Multi-frequency and Multi-constellation GNSS”, proposing to the global civil aviation community to accelerate the application of multi-mode and multi-constellation satellite navigation, and presenting the outlook of worldwide application of Beidou Satellite Navigation System, which attracted attention of the Assembly.

As introduced by the person in charge from CAAC Office of Air Traffic Regulation, the signal system of the new generation of Beidou Satellite Navigation system has been determined, and is planned to make public in 2017 and to finish system building in 2020. By then, the system will be able to provide the world with compatible and interoperable navigation signals and satellite-based augmentation services.

The Delegation of the Chinese Government introduced to the participants the basic composition and service performance of Beidou System, its important status in the new generation of air navigation systems, its application in general aviation and transport aviation, advantages of multi-frequency and multi-constellation satellite navigation systems, development progress and development of Beidou Satellite Navigation System since it started providing regional services in 2012 and the application of Chinese civil aviation satellite navigation. CAAC also encouraged civil aviation authorities, industries and users of all countries to carry out cooperation in fields of satellite navigation demand, standards, compatibility and interoperability, and application and verification.
