On January 18, Hu Zucai, Vice Chairman of NDRC inspected the construction site of Beijing’s new airport. He was briefed on the construction of the airport, made coordinating efforts to resolve the problems in the new airport construction and extended the New Year’s greetings to the workers responsible for the construction of the new airport. He was accompanied by Sui Zhenjiang, Vice Mayor of Beijing and Dong Zhiyi, Deputy Administrator of CAAC on his tour.

Hu Zucai and his party made an inspection tour of the construction site of the new airport, debriefed the Capital Airports Holding Company and Construction Headquarters of the new airport, and acknowledged the achievements made during the construction of the airport. Under the direct leadership of the CAAC and with the strong support of the Beijing Municipal Government, Capital Airports Holding Company and the Construction Headquarters of the new airport made elaborate arrangements, overcame difficulties, and worked hard in earnest, thus pushing forward the whole construction of the airport in an orderly and planned way, ensuring safety and quality of the project and achieving great success in 2016, said him.

Dong Zhiyi instructed that in 2017 the units responsible for the construction of the new airport should improve on the work in 2016, and make coordinated efforts to speed up the construction and preparations for the operation of the new airport.

Currently, the construction of the 23 bid sections in the flight zone of the new airport has fully started; civil engineering construction of the terminal has partially progressed to the fourth floor; and the engineering construction of the 8 bid sections for intra-city transport and municipal service within the airport have officially started. At the same time, the new airport line as part of the Beijing rail transport system has started and the construction of airline bases and air traffic control projects are smoothly underway.
