On April 14, CAAC issued the Methods for Classified Management of General Aviation Airports (the Methods) to introduce classified management for general aviation airports. The Methods made innovations on the management system for general aviation airport industry, which will further promote the sound development of general aviation airports.
The Methods divides general aviation airports into category A and category B, depending on whether an airport is open to the public or not. Category A is open to the public who can enter the airport to get flight services or conduct flying activities. Category B is not open to the public. Furthermore, based on the extent of influence on the public interest, the Methods divides category A into three levels, namely Level A1, where commercial passenger transport flights are carried out using aircraft with over 10 passenger seats; Level A2, where commercial passenger transport flights are carried out using aircraft with 5-9 passenger seats; and Level A3, which includes general aviation airports other than Level A1 and Level A2.
