On May 16, CAAC held a press conference regarding the latest measures on unmanned aircraft and a number of other issues, and answered reporters’ questions. This is the first press conference given by CAAC since the issuance of the Regulations on Civil Aviation News and Information Work (hereinafter referred to as the Regulations).
Spokesman of CAAC and principal persons in charge of relevant departments released news on civil aviation safety and operation situation in April, work done and progress obtained by CAAC in the implementation of the "Belt and Road" national initiative, relevant measures on unmanned aircraft, among others. More than 30 journalists from People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency, CCTV News, CCTV Finance, CCTV International Channel, China National Radio, China News Service, China Radio International, Economic Daily, Guangming Daily, China Daily, Legal Daily, CAAC News, CAAC Audio-Visual Education Center, etc. attended the conference.
It is learned that, in order to further strengthen and standardize the news and information work of civil aviation administrative organs, CAAC developed and issued the Regulations recently in accordance with the Opinions on Establishing and Improving a Sound Mechanism of News Release and Policy Interpretation and the Opinions on Comprehensively Promoting Openness in Government Affairs issued by the General Office of the CPC and the General Office of the State Council, and the Opinions on Further Deepening Civil Aviation Reform and in light of the actual conditions of civil aviation. The Regulations laid down clearly that press release should be given in a timely manner in case of important measures published and major events held by civil aviation administrative organs or emergencies or other situations that demand timely news releases; and civil aviation administrative organs should establish a news spokesperson system and an integrated working mechanism for information disclosure, policy interpretation, press release and public opinion response.
