From September 11 to 13, CAAC Administrator Feng Zhenglin led a delegation to visit Brazil, where he held bilateral aviation talks with his Brazilian counterpart, paid a survey visit to Embraer, and conducted in-depth exchanges of opinions with Mr. Botelho, Director General, National Civil Aviation Agency of Brazil on strengthening
China-Brazilian civil aviation relations. The two sides elaborated on their respective civil aviation development, reached consensus on expanding bilateral air traffic rights arrangement and deepening cooperation in regional air route operation, and signed a MoU.
Brazil, a major developing country and an important emerging market, was the first developing country to establish strategic partnership with China and the first Latin American country to establish overall strategic partnership with China. As BRIC partners, China and Brazil will deepen cooperation in civil aviation in the future. Added to the MoU signed during this trip were the fifth air traffic rights, code-sharing with airlines from third country and full liberation of route schedule, providing flexibility to the commercial cooperation between the airlines from the two countries. Currently, Air China operates two weekly flights on the Beijing-Madrid-Sao Paulo route.
During the trip, Maurício Quintella Lessa, Transport Minister of Brazil met with the Chinese delegation.
