From September 16 to 18, CAAC Administrator Feng Zhenglin led a Chinese civil aviation delegation to visit Panama, and held bilateral aviation talks with their Panamanian counterparts. The topics discussed included the air service agreement between the two governments and relevant arrangements of traffic rights, and important consensuses were reached during the talks. The two sides initialed the texts of the air service agreement, and signed a memorandum of understanding relating to the arrangement of traffic rights. The MoU laid down a legal basis for the early launch of flights of air carriers and business cooperation between the two countries, rendering a strong support for the personnel visits and deepened cooperation.
During his visit, Panama President Juan Carlos Varela received CAAC delegation in the Presidential Office. Delegates from Air China, China Eastern, China Southern and Hainan Airlines and their counterparts from Copa Airlines discussed and exchanged views on how to deepen cooperation and achieve win-win results. Feng indicated that the success of aviation talks of the two countries would lay a solid foundation for civil aviation cooperation, economic and cultural exchanges and cooperation of airlines and help build an air corridor between the two countries. Both sides need to make efforts to build the air corridor into one that promotes the economic and trade cooperation, promotes the friendly exchanges of the two peoples and leads to a brighter future for the relations between the two countries.
