12.95 Million Passengers Travelled by Air during the National Day Holiday 201714/11/2017

According to preliminary statistics, during the National Day Holiday 2017 (October 1 to 8), civil aviation industry transported 12.95 million passengers, increasing by 14.6% compared with the same period of 2016 with an average passenger load factor of over 80%. Domestic airlines have flown over 96,000 flights, with an annual growth of 4.12%. Civil aviation operation remained safe and steady during the holiday.

From October 1 to 8, passenger traffic at airports in cities of hot tourism destinations increased notably. Airports with high Passenger Load Factors of departure flights include airports in Beijing, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Ningbo, Hangzhou, Zhuhai, Haikou, Sanya, Nanjing, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Wenzhou, Lanzhou, Xining, Urumqi, Jinggangshan, Xishuangbanna, Zhengzhou, Wuyishan, Luoyang, Yantai, Hefei, Nanchang, etc. The average passenger load factor of departure flights of the above airports was all over 85%. The number was over 90% for airports of Beijing, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Ningbo and Hangzhou in the first half of the holiday, and for airports in Sanya, Jinggangshan, Wuyishan, Huangshan, Nanchang, Yantai and Luoyang in the second half of the holiday.

The peak of passenger traffic started on September 30, and reached the highest level on October 1 with 1.672 million passengers transported by air on that single day. The passenger traffic gradually declined from October 2. The 8-day holiday this year was favorable for passengers to avoid travelling on the rush days. However, passenger traffic in the middle of the holiday was larger than that of the same period last year which used to be a trough. Due to the Chinese traditional custom of family reunion in Mid-Autumn Festival, passenger traffic on October 4 reached the lowest point. The amount of returning passengers gradually increased from October 5 and climbed to the top on October 7 and 8. It was expected that October 8 would be the peak day and civil aviation transport on that day would reach 1.71 million.
