On November 21, CAAC Deputy Administrator Wang Zhiqing led a delegation and participated in the Third Annual ICAO World Aviation Forum in Abuja, Nigeria. He shared China’s experience in aviation infrastructure construction with over 400 representatives from 70 countries and international organizations, and also met with Dr. Aliu, President of ICAO Council.

Wang Zhiqing stressed in his speech that China civil aviation has kept growing steadily for the past few decades due to the huge investment in infrastructure. Infrastructure construction shall be coordinated as a whole with an overarching plan. Funding policies and channels shall be developed according to national conditions and current development stage in order to bring the roles of market and government into full play.

He indicated that ICAO’s No Country Left Behind Initiative helps aviation play a significant role in the process of building a community with a shared future for mankind. China is playing an active role in supporting and participating in aviation infrastructure construction in Africa and other developing countries, and wishes to share its experience with other countries and jointly seek the continuous prosperity of global air transport.

Dr. Aliu said during the meeting that China’s experience in achieving significant progress in civil aviation development was worth well to be learned by other developing countries. He appreciated that the Chinese government donated 4 million US dollars to ICAO, and offered support for developing countries under the framework of South-South Cooperation. The two sides also exchanged views upon further enhancing their collaboration.

During the forum, Wang Zhiqing also had bilateral meetings with ministers in charge of civil aviation from Cape Verde and Uganda, and exchanged views with his counterparts on implementing the Belt & Road Initiative, strengthening aviation ties, infrastructure construction and technical cooperation.
