Li Hongzhong, Member of the Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee and Secretary of Tianjin Municipal Party Committee met with CAAC Administrator Feng Zhenglin and exchanged views on expediting civil aviation development in Tianjin on November 21. CAAC Deputy Administrator Li Jian, Tianjin Executive Vice Mayor Duan Chunhua, Member of the Standing Committee of Tianjin Municipal Party Committee Li Yi, Vice Mayor Sun Wenkui were also present at the meeting.

On behalf of Tianjin Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government, Li Hongzhong welcomed Feng Zhenglin and his party to attend the First Maintenance Vocational Skill Contest of China Civil Aviation in Tianjin and appreciated CAAC’s long-term support for civil aviation development of the city. He underscored the significance of civil aviation for Tianjin’s economic and social development. Since the beginning of this year, Tianjin’s civil aviation has been developing rapidly and passenger traffic at Tianjin Airport will soon exceed 20 million. Tianjin Municipal Party Committee and the Government will, with the support of CAAC, advocated the spirit of craftsman, rendered joint support for Civil Aviation University of China, speeded up the construction of an international air transport hub, serving the strategy of coordinated Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei development.

Feng Zhenglin expressed his appreciation of Tianjin administration’s long-term efforts in civil aviation development and education. He said that the contest helped to further implement the requirements raised in the 19th National CPC Congress report of building an educated, skilled, and innovative workforce, fostering respect for model workers, promoting quality workmanship, and seeing that taking pride in labor becomes a social norm and seeking excellence is valued as a good work ethic. He said that the rapid development of Tianjin’s civil aviation in recent years has demonstrated the effects of relieving Beijing of functions nonessential to its role as the capital and promoting the coordinated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. The Framework Agreement of Strategic Cooperation between CAAC and Tianjin Municipal Government which was signed not long ago, aims to expedite Tianjin’s civil aviation development by scientifically planning aviation functions, optimizing the environment for civil aviation development, improving domestic and international air transport capacity and upgrading airport collection, distribution and transportation system. CAAC will, as always, support Tianjin in promoting its air cargo transport development and expediting the building of an international air cargo hub.
