On November 22-23, a delegation led by CAAC Deputy Administrator Wang Zhiqing had talks with Raul Medina Caballero, Director General of Civil Aviation under Ministry of Public Works and Transport of Spain in Madrid. Wang Zhiqing signed a memorandum of understanding with his counterpart. The two parties agreed to expand the air transport market between the two countries, increasing passenger and cargo flights from 30 in total per week to 100 passenger flights and 14 cargo flights per week.

From 2014 to the present, the air transport market between China and Spain has developed rapidly with an annual growth rate of over 20%. For the winter season of 2017-2018, seven airlines operate 33 passenger and cargo transport flights between the two countries every week.
