Air Transport Arrangements during Spring Festival of 2018 Set by Both Sides of the Taiwan Straits19/01/2018

To accommodate the travelling needs of passengers across the straits, especially for Taiwan compatriots who plan to return to their native places in the mainland during the Spring Festival, aviation authorities on both sides of the Taiwan Straits have confirmed detailed arrangements for additional flights during the Spring Festival of 2018.

The two sides have agreed that airlines both in China’s mainland and Taiwan may provide additional flights from February 2 to March 2, 2018. The total amount of additional flights is unrestricted in order to meet the needs of passengers and airlines. However, considering the limited airspace resources in China’s mainland, upper limits are set for a number of busy airports there. The upper limits of round-trip flights for airlines on each side are 16 for Beijing, 162 for Pudong, 11 for Guangzhou, 23 for Shenzhen, and 44 for Hangzhou.

The two sides plan to approve the first additional flights before January 3, 2018 for the convenience of passengers in making reservations and scheduling their trips. Shanghai Hongqiao Airport and Taipei Songshan Airport will not provide additional flights during the Spring Festival. For airlines which normally operate round-trip flights between mainland and Songshan Airport, they can offer chartered flights in Taoyuan Airport.
