On December 24, China's first large amphibious aircraft AG600 used for firefighting and marine rescue, which was developed in accordance with CAAC Airworthiness Regulations, made its debut in Zhuhai. CAAC Deputy Administrator Li Jian attended the event and made a speech.
On behalf of CAAC, Li Jian expressed his warm congratulation on AG600 aircraft’s successful maiden flight over land, pointing out that the AG600 aircraft, which filled the gap of China's large civil amphibious aircraft, will be of great significance in promoting the occupation by China aviation manufacturing industry of a higher position in the global value chain and the construction by China aviation industry of a leading world-class manufacturing group, and provide a new driving force for the attainment of the objective of building China into a powerhouse in transport and manufacturing.
AG600 is a first large-scale special-purpose civilian aircraft developed to meet the urgent needs of forest fire fighting and marine rescue, and a major aviation equipment urgently needed in the development of national emergency rescue system. The aircraft is yet another large airplane following ARJ21—700 and C919, for which application for type certificate is filed in accordance with China civil aviation regulations. The maiden flight of AG600 marks a transition in type development from trial production to test flight, and the development of the aircraft and the type certification test flight will be gradually carried out.
