On February 1, CAAC Administrator Feng Zhenglin met with Damian Drum, Assistant Minister to the Deputy Prime Minister of Australia, Khaw Boon Wan, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure & Minister for Transport of Singapore, and Liow Tiong Lai, Minister of Transport Malaysia, who were in Beijing for the Asia Pacific Ministerial Conference on Civil Aviation.
During his meeting with Damian Drum, Feng said that Australia has become China’s second largest long-haul international air transport market next to the United States. China and Australia reached an agreement in 2016 on significantly expanding traffic rights arrangement and have developed good collaborative relations in air transport. It is hoped that the two sides will strengthen cooperation in flight safety, air routes and infrastructure construction, complement each other with respective advantages and provide better service for passengers of both countries. Damian Drum said that the Ministerial Conference has offered an excellent platform for civil aviation cooperation, which will enable more exchanges among Asia Pacific countries and promote opening up and collaboration. He hoped that the two countries will launch more air routes, increase mutual investment and cooperate in a more open and closer way.
During the meeting with Khaw Boon Wan, Feng said that China and Singapore have a long history of cooperation in civil aviation, and obtained good results in human resource training. With a huge potential for further cooperation, it is hoped that the two sides will further enhance collaborations in flight safety, infrastructure construction, human resource training, etc. Mr. Khaw said that China has made great achievements in civil aviation infrastructure construction and steadily advanced the construction of aviation hubs. He hoped to strengthen cooperation in airport construction, flights and air routes with China’s civil aviation industry.
When meeting with Liow Tiong Lai, Feng said that close cooperation between China and Malaysia in civil aviation includes expansion of traffic rights, increase of routes and flights, and exchanges of people, economy and trade. He hoped that air transport enterprises of the two countries will continue to conduct practical and effective cooperation in the future. Mr. Liow offered congratulations on the success of the Conference. He said that Malaysia will actively support the Belt & Road Initiative proposed by the Chinese Government, enhance cooperation with China in civil aviation, and advance the development of civil aviation industries in both countries.
