On March 17-19, 2018, at the invitation from the U.S., CAAC Deputy Administrator Wang Zhiqing visited the United States with a delegation and held talks with the U.S. Department of Transportation delegation headed by Derek Kan, Under Secretary of Transportation for Policy. The two parties fully exchanged views on the convening of China-U.S. high-level dialogues on air transport policy, China-US air transportation market, and the operation of airlines from the two countries. The two sides agreed to make arrangement for Director-General level meetings as soon as possible to discuss issues of mutual interest.

The Chinese delegation also paid a visit to, among others, the FAA Miami Terminal Control Center, the American Airlines Miami Hub Operation Control Center and Miami Airport, where discussions were held on airspace management, apron control, airline operations control, and the aviation market development in the two countries.
