Li Jian Visits Chengdu for Inspection on Development of Domestic Civil Aircraft Manufacturing Industry04/05/2018

On April 19, to gain first-hand information on the development of domestic civil aircraft manufacturing industry, CAAC Deputy Administrator Li Jian led a research team to Chengdu, where a symposium was held on the development of domestic civil aircraft manufacturing industry for in-depth discussion on how to further promote the implementation of the national strategy related to domestic production of large aircraft, meet the demand of civil aircraft industry for development and boost efforts to build China into a strong manufacturing power. Present at the symposium were leaders from CAAC, CAAC Southwest Regional Administration, CAAC Airworthiness Certification Center, COMAC, Aviation Industry Corporation of China, and Chengdu Airlines.

The research team paid successive visits to COMAC Sichuan Branch and the Airlines Operation Center Hall of Chengdu Airlines, and boarded Chengdu Airlines’ ARJ21 aircraft where they conducted in-depth exchanges with staff representatives involved in the operation of ARJ21 fleet, including flight crew, operation control staff and maintenance staff, to gain detailed information on the dispatch release of ARJ21 aircraft and the operability of ARJ21 aircraft.

At the symposium, Li Jian stated that we shall remain true to our original aspiration of “promoting the development of domestic aircraft manufacturing industry, building China into a strong civil aviation power, and achieving the goal of building a strong manufacturing country”, and that we shall work together to make domestically manufactured aircraft fly more reliably and safely and gain a higher market value, so as to contribute to achieving the goals in the “Made in China 2025” initiative and shaping a civil aviation power.

Regarding the development of domestic civil aircraft manufacturing industry, Li Jian made four points, first, to be fully aware of the unprecedented opportunities for development; second, to fully understand the growing demand of customers; third, to conduct in-depth analysis into the current key issues in such areas as flight operation, airworthiness maintenance, operation control, and support for research and development; and fourth, to make relentless efforts to build an efficient management system.
