China and Egypt Held Aviation Talks22/05/2018

From May 14 to 15, 2018, the CAAC delegation headed by CAAC Deputy Administrator Dong Zhiyi and the Egyptian Civil Aviation delegation led by Mr. Khaled Abdel Monem, Under Secretary of State for Air Transport, Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority, held a new round of aviation talks in Cairo. The two sides conducted extensive and in-depth discussions and exchanges, reached agreement on expanding traffic right arrangement and signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

Egypt marks an important hub country on the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. In recent years, China and Egypt have witnessed increasing demand in economic and trade cooperation, tourism and personnel exchanges, and rapid growth in air transport market between the two countries. The aviation talks, having expanded bilateral traffic right arrangement, will provide conveniences to air transport enterprises of China and Egypt in launching new or increasing flight frequencies. As a result, it will make positive contributions to further strengthening connectivity between China and Egypt and China and Africa, and facilitate personnel changes and economic and trade ties between the two countries.

At present, EgyptAir operates flights originating from Cairo to Beijing and Guangzhou with 13 flights a week. Sichuan Airlines plans to launch Chengdu-Cairo flight in October this year with 2 flights a week.
