On June 15, CAAC Deputy Administrator Lyu Erxue led an inspection group to the Civil Aviation Flight University of China (CAFUC). He emphasized that we must be guided by the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and earnestly implement the guiding principles from the speech made by President Xi during a Symposium with students and faculties of Peking University. He said that we need to be in line with the guiding principles from the remarks made by CAAC Administrator Feng Zhenglin during the meeting commending the heroic Chinese civil aviation flight crew. We also need to closely combine professional skills and styles to cultivate students, the future civil aviation practitioners.

Lyu Erxue and his survey group visited the control tower in Guanghan branch, GE engine maintenance training center and Air Traffic Management College, to be informed of the training of pilots, maintenance staff and controllers and the progress of relevant key projects. On the symposium, Lyu Erxue said that as the cradle of Chinese civil aviation pilots, CAFUC has inherited and passed down the good tradition of the university and cultivated more than 30,000 pilots, making a huge contribution to the development of China civil aviation industry. In recent years, the Party Group of the University has earnestly fulfilled its responsibility for governance over the Party and for administering the university. It has given full play to the role of Party style, so as to develop the school spirit and its learning style. The Party Group regarded the inspections as opportunities to effectively solve problems and reverse adverse situations, so that teaching and training have reached a record high and flight safety has remained at the best level over the past decade. Efforts were made in establishing key civil aviation laboratories, scientific research institutes falling into four categories and five major bases, which led to remarkable achievements and steady development.

Lyu Erxue emphasized that for the next step, first of all, it is necessary for us to closely focus on the overall working idea of practicing one concept, driving both civil and general aviation, safeguarding the three bottom lines of flight safety, incorruption and cordial service, improving three networks of airports, routes and operation supervision, and improving airspace resources, civil aviation quality service, the ability of airworthiness certification, and emergency response capability. We need to carry out coordinated development with flight being the priority, adhering to the principal business of pilot cultivation to provide high quality talents for the efforts to build China into a civil aviation powerhouse. Second, we should persist in reform and innovation, to emancipate our mind and make full use of the “branch plus” training model. We must ensure pilots training meets the quality standards in terms of political awareness, theories, skills and psychology, try to achieve breakthroughs in resources, enhance training efficiency and make further achievements. Third, we shall strengthen infrastructure construction by steadily pushing forward the building of Tianfu new campus as well as the renovation of old campus to keep improving the learning, teaching and living environments. Fourth, to bring out the full potential of higher education, we need to conscientiously implement the guiding principles from the high level dialogue on innovation in education and science of civil aviation, grasp on scientific research and education, and further push forward the implementation of the Double First-class University initiative.

Lyu Erxue called upon relevant departments to focus on analyzing and addressing such issues as strengthening Double First-class University construction, building the Tianfu new campus, as well as discipline and scientific development.
