On August 16, an inspection team led by CAAC Deputy Administrator Lyu Erxue paid a visit to the construction site of Beijing Daxing International Airport to inspect the construction and operation of the new airport and gain first-hand knowledge of the aviation security related problems and difficulties arising during the construction and operation of the airport. Lyu Erxue stressed the importance of enhancing awareness, strengthening political responsibility, focusing on addressing problems and difficulties, strictly implementing responsibilities, reinforcing coordination, and making preparations for the airport to be put into operation in a timely, safe, smooth and efficient manner, in accordance with the timeline identified in the Comprehensive Plan for the Management and Control of the Overall Schedule for the Construction and Operation Preparation of Beijing Daxing International Airport.

After listening to the report on the work of aviation safety delivered by Capital Airports Holding Company, CAAC North Regional Administration and the Aviation Security Bureau of Beijing Capital International Airport, Lyu Erxue pointed out that the construction and operation of Beijing Daxing International Airport is an important and historical mission assigned by the Party Central Committee and the State Council to the civil aviation industry, and that we must assume political responsibility, take concrete actions and have a sense of mission. At present, as the construction of Beijing Daxing International Airport has entered a critical period of finishing major milestones, a period subject to frequent occurrence of construction related safety accidents, and a critical period in making operation preparations, it is necessary to further improve our understanding and thinking, strengthen political responsibility, know more about the importance of safety and security facilities establishment to the operation and construction of the new airport as well as to its safe development, and achieve required progress according to the construction schedule.

At present, the Beijing Daxing International Airport Management Center under Capital Airports Holding Company has been formally established, which is responsible for the operation preparation and management of Beijing Daxing International Airport. By the end of July this year, 92% of the earthwork and 52% of the pavement construction at Beijing Daxing International Airport had been completed, and the runway and taxiway system in the movement area had taken its shape. The main structure of road and bridge construction has been completed, and the navigation lighting aids and auxiliary facility construction have been proceeding steadily.
