On August 21, 2018, the civil aviation delegations of China and Namibia held aviation talks in Beijing. The two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on air traffic rights arrangement and initialed the draft Air Services Agreement between China and Namibia.

China and Namibia established a comprehensive strategic partnership in March 2018. According to statistics, during the one year period from July 2017 to June 2018, the two-way passenger traffic between China and Namibia was about 22,000, represented a year-on-year increase of 25.9%.
