According to the Regulations on Geographic Names and the Regulations on the Licensing of Civil Airports, and under the approval of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, Beijing New Airport was given the name Beijing Daxing International Airport. The construction of the airport and supporting projects is expected to be completed on June 30, 2019, and the airport is expected to be open before September 30, 2019.

Beijing Daxing International Airport is a major national landmark project decided by the Party Central Committee and the State Council. The airport project was approved in November 2014, and since then the construction of major and parallel projects of the airport has been proceeding steadily, and operational preparation has achieved a good start. Till now, 93% of the earthwork and 62% of road surface construction in the movement area have been finished, and the whole project will be finished by May next year. The terminal building has entered the stage of fine fitment, electromechanical installation, jet bridge construction, and the fine fitment will be finished by April 2019. The air traffic terminal control center has now fully entered the stage of fine fitment and electromechanical installation. The main construction of China aviation oil storage tank has been completed and the water test as well as pressure test have been completed. The main structure of airline staff apartment, air food catering center and the supporting business rooms have been completed or to be completed. The construction of supporting transportation projects within the airport has been accelerated, the viaducts to and from the airports and the comprehensive rail transit within the airport have been connected.

In order to scientifically balance the construction, acceptance, handover, operational preparation and other work, CAAC formulated a comprehensive management plan according to the overall timeline of construction and operational preparation of Beijing Daxing International Airport. The management plan defines a roadmap, timeline, assignment and a responsibility sheet regarding the construction and operational preparation of the airport. In the next step, on the basis of supervising all units to truly implement the comprehensive management plan according to the overall timeline, the focus of CAAC will be shifted from project construction to operational preparation, from major projects to supporting projects, from internal to external coordination, from ground to air construction, so as to spare no effort to prepare for the construction and operation to ensure that the new airport will be put into operation as scheduled.
