On November 14th, a special exhibition entitled “Forging Ahead into a New Era – Archives: A Witness to the 40 Years of Reform and Opening up of Civil Aviation” was held at CAAC. Administrator Feng Zhenglin visited the exhibition. Deputy Administrators Dong Zhiyi, Wang Zhiqing and Lyu Erxue attended the opening ceremony and visited the exhibition. Dong Zhiyi gave an opening speech.

Dong Zhiyi pointed out that over the past 40 years, under the correct leadership of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, China’s civil aviation industry has achieved brilliant achievements that have attracted worldwide attention, thanks to the unremitting efforts of generations of civil aviation people. China has now become a major player in civil aviation and is forging ahead to become a civil aviation power. It can be said with pride that the 40 years of reform and opening up has seen the continuous efforts of Chinese civil aviation in releasing and developing productivity, establishing major market players, adjusting the functions of the competent authorities, improving the ability of serving the country’s stategies, and elevating the industry’s status and role, resulting in the ever greater basic, strategic and leading position of the civil aviation industry in the national economy and social development. All workers employed in the civil aviation field are not only participants and builders of the reform and opening up of civil aviation, but also its witnesses. The brilliant achievements and successful experience of the civil aviation industry in the past 40 years have fully proved and will further prove that reform and opening up is the only way for the rapid development of Chinese civil aviation, and it is the only way to realize the dream of building China into a civil aviation power.

Dong Zhiyi emphasized that reform and development have no limitations. The officials and workers of the Chinese civil aviation should comprehensively study and implement President Xi Jinping’s thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics and the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and thoroughly implement the spirit of Xi’s important instructions on the civil aviation work. It is necessary to reinforce four awarenesses of political integrity, thinking in terms of the big picture, following the leadership core, and keeping in alignment with the central Party leadership; and it is essential to enhance four kinds of confidence, i.e. the confidence in the path, theory, system, and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics. In accordance with the overall framework of the “1+10+N” reforms and the general work thought of “12334” determined by the CAAC Party Group, we shall remain true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind, keep forging ahead, deepen reforms, seek reform consensus, explore reform path, and form a joint force to solidly promote the process of building a civil aviation power and pursue high-quality development of civil aviation.

The exhibition is organized by CAAC’s Department of General Affairs according to CAAC’s coordinated arrangements of celebrations for the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up. Among the 260,000 pieces of archives in the CAAC Archives, the exhibition draws on 40 major events since the reform and opening up of civil aviation, and exhibits historical photos on major points, and photos of major historical events and key decisions and deployment. It aims to show the memorable times of civil aviation development and the glorious course of reform and opening up in the past 40 years, provide experience for future development, and generate tremendous drive out of the Chinese civil aviation people for building a civil aviation power.
