TSSC Meeting of CAAC and Airbus Held18/12/2018

On November 30, TSSC meeting of CAAC and Airbus was held in Beijing. The meeting summarized and reviewed progress of relevant projects of last TSSC, and the participants exchanged in-depth views on flight safety topics of common concerns such as tracking of aircraft and update of investigation of aviation incidents. CAAC Deputy Administrator Li Jian attended the meeting.

Li Jian expressed that TSSC meeting is not only an important channel for high-level leaders of CAAC and Airbus to exchange views on flight safety, but also a major platform for the two sides to cooperate with each other. In recent years, with this platform, the two sides have discussed and exchanged views on hotspot issues and thorny ones and produced constructive cooperative projects in a wide range of fields including safety management, flight standards, airworthiness certification, air traffic management, airport operations, etc. It has played an important role in improving China’s civil aviation safety management, especially in ensuring safe operations of Airbus fleet.

Li Jian stressed that China’s civil aviation industry has maintained continuous and rapid development, with the scale of fleet continuously expanding and new aircraft types being introduced in succession, which raised higher requirements for ensuring flight safety. The common challenge faced by airlines, manufacturers and CAAC is how to ensure high-speed development of the civil aviation while maintaining acceptable safety level. He hoped that the two sides continue to set civil aviation safety as their goals and further push forward interactions and exchanges on safety management and safety information, so as to promote safe development of civil aviation.

After the meeting, Hu Zhenjiang, Director General of Department of Flight Standard, and Xu Gang, CEO of Airbus China, on behalf of CAAC and Airbus respectively, signed a MOU on safety. According to this MOU, the two sides will continue to strengthen cooperation in the fields of flight operations and aviation safety, maintenance practice and organizational structure as well as management and training in the coming 5 years, and reinforce communication and exchange of information between the two sides through regular meetings, training, etc.
