China’s Mainland and Taiwan Confirmed Additional Flights and other Air Services Arrangements for the 2019 Spring Festival18/01/2019

In order to meet the travelling demand of cross-strait passengers during the Spring Festival, especially to facilitate Taiwan compatriots to return home, the civil aviation authorities of the two sides have recently made decision on the additional flights and other specific arrangements for the Spring Festival in 2019 after repeated communication via phone and by correspondence.

Upon confirmation, the two sides agreed that cross-strait airlines can arrange for additional flights during the Spring Festival from January 22 to February 19, 2019. Taking into account the actual situation of cross-strait air transport, upper limits were set in several busy airports in China’s mainland, namely, 10 flights in Beijing, 168 flights in Pudong, 12 flights in Guangzhou, 23 flights in Shenzhen and 43 flights in Hangzhou. No additional flights for cross-strait operation will be arranged at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport and Taipei Songshan Airport during the Spring Festival. Airlines that operate cross-strait routes in Hongqiao and Songshan Airport can arrange additional flights and charter flights in Pudong and Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport.

The two sides agreed that they will be fully committed to support airlines from both sides to provide more than 600 additional cross-strait flights during the Spring Festival, and that those flight arrangements will be approved no later than January 10, 2019 to facilitate airlines to carry out supporting services.
