Feng Zhenglin greets the crew members of Air China on New Year’s Eve.
Late into the night of December 31, 2018, Secretary of CAAC Party Group and CAAC Administrator Feng Zhenglin successively came to the aprons of the three terminals of Capital Airport, waiting in the cold winds for crew members of civil aviation to come back safely on the last day of 2018.
Feng Zhenglin welcomed flights of Air China, Sichuan Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines and Hainan Airlines, and expressed holiday greetings to the flight crew.
Feng Zhenglin said: "I wish everybody a happy new year and thank you for your hard work. Your returning safely represents the safe and smooth development of the civil aviation industry in 2018. This year, under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, and with the hard work of everyone working in this industry, civil aviation has handed over a brilliant transcript to the party and the people. In 2018, the safety performance of civil aviation was stable and under control, with air transport operating safely for 100 months, or 68.35 million hours in a roll, creating the longest safety record in the history of civil aviation development; flight regularity rate reached over 80%, and the quality of civil aviation service was improved; air traffic management has supported more than 10 million flight movements, hitting a new record; the annual passenger throughput of Beijing Capital International Airport has exceeded 100 million, making it the second airport in the world to reach the milestone. These figures and achievements represent the hard work of everyone working in this industry. On behalf of the CAAC Party Group, I would like to express my gratitude to all officials and staff." Feng Zhenglin also emphasized that we still have a long way to go in terms of aviation safety and enhancing service quality. In 2019, all civil aviation personnel will have to start again and do even better for the Party and the people.
While welcoming the crew members of Sichuan Airlines, Feng Zhenglin said that in 2018, Sichuan Airlines made great contributions to the safety development of civil aviation. In particular its “China Civil Aviation Hero Crew” who received a visit by General Secretary Xi Jinping , have injected new motivation for civil aviation personnel. He hoped that more flight crew can be a role model to make new contributions to realizing the goal of building civil aviation strength and achieving the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
In the meantime, Feng Zhenglin also greeted mechanics, ground service personnel, and security personnel. He shook hands with them and thanked them for their hard work over the past year.
According to statistics, in 2018, the safety performance of the civil aviation industry was stable and under control. Transport aviation operated safely for 100 months in a roll. It is estimated that the total transport turnover will be 121.65 billion ton-km, with 610 million passenger traffic and 7.503 million tons cargo and mail turnover, up by 12.3%, 11.4% and 6.3% respectively. While the total number of passenger flights of domestic passenger airlines increased by 7.8% year-on-year, the regularity rate of civil aviation flights in 2018 reached 80.12%.
