From January 18 to 19, 2019, CAAC Deputy Administrator Wang Zhiqing led a Chinese delegation of Civil Aviation to Vietnam, and co-chaired the 4th China-Vietnam Civil Aviation Senior Officials Meeting with Director General Dinh Viet Thang of the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam. The two sides reviewed their civil aviation development and cooperation in various fields, exchanged over issues such as coordination of air traffic control, airline operation, slot allocation and aviation security, and signed the minutes of the meeting.

The delegation also inspected the headquarters and operation of VietJet Air, held talks with Chinese and Vietnamese Airlines respectively, and took the initiative to coordinate with the Vietnamese side on the problems encountered by Chinese airlines when operating routes to Vietnam, and to listen to the opinions and demands of Vietnamese airlines. The two sides agreed that this meeting has pointed out the direction for the future development of civil aviation relations between China and Vietnam, and opened a new chapter of civil aviation cooperation between the two countries.

Since China and Vietnam signed the Air Services Agreement in 1992, the civil aviation relations between the two countries have developed smoothly, and the air transport market has been expanding. At present, 18 airlines of China and Vietnam operate 531 passenger and cargo flights every week, equivalent to nearly 76 flights a day between China and Vietnam, which has strongly supported economic and trade cooperation and personnel exchanges, thus significantly improving the connectivity between the two countries.
