It was known from the CAAC press conference on February 13 that civil aviation operated safely and smoothly in January, reaching a flight regularity rate of 83.62%, which increased by 1.57 percentage points year-on-year. During the Spring Festival holiday, the passenger traffic of civil aviation reached a new high, and the quality of operation improved continuously.
In January 2019, the whole industry achieved 1.046 million hours of flight transport, increasing by 12.1% compared with the same period in the previous year; completed 66,000 hours of general aviation flight with no transport accidents, and the safety performance of the industry remained steady. As of the end of January, transport aviation guaranteed safe flight for 101 months, or 69.41 million hours in a row. In January, the total turnover of the industry was 10.62 billion ton-km, which increased by 12.4% year-on-year, marking a good kick-off in 2019.
The air passenger transport market grew rapidly. In January this year, passenger traffic of the whole industry was 53.431 million, increasing by 14.9% year on year. Due to factors such as earlier date of Spring Festival and travel rush, the market increased by 7.4 percentage points compared with the previous month and by 9.2 percentage points compared with last year. Among the total traffic, domestic routes transported 47.338 million passengers, increasing by 13.9% year on year; and the monthly passenger traffic of international routes exceeded 6 million for the first time, reaching 6.075 million, up by 22.9% year on year. At the same time, the growth rate of air cargo market has picked up rapidly. The whole industry completed a total of 672,000 tons of cargo and mail transport in January, up by 5.0% year on year. The growth rate increased by 3.5 percentage points from the previous month. Among them, domestic and international routes increased by 6.2% and 2.2% respectively compared with the previous year.
In January 2019, the whole industry supported a total of 498,000 flights of various types, with a daily average of 16081 flights, up by 11.05% year on year. In particular, the flight volume on January 31 registered a record high, reaching 17,324 flights. By the end of January, civil aviation industry had a fleet size of 6,081 aircraft: 3,665 transport aircraft, and 2,416 general aviation aircraft.
