On February 26, CAAC Administrator Feng Zhenglin met with Shanghai Mayor Ying Yong and his associates in Beijing. The two sides exchanged views on further promoting the development of civil aviation in Shanghai. CAAC Deputy Administrator Wang Zhiqing, and Deputy Mayor of Shanghai Chen Yin attended the meeting.

In 2018, the passenger throughput of two airports in Shanghai reached 117 million, and the cargo and mail throughput was 4.172 million tons, accounting for 51% and 75% of the traffic volume of airport clusters in the Yangtze River Delta respectively, ranking the 4th and 3rd in the world. The number of aircraft movements reached 772,000, increasing by 1.5% year-on-year. The average clearance rates of the two airports were 89.22% and 82.73% respectively, up by 14.18% and 14.82% year-on-year.
