Beijing Daxing International Airport Begins Passenger Aircraft Test Flights05/06/2019

All four aircraft for the test flight land smoothly at Beijing Daxing International Airport.

At 9:30 am on May 13, a China Southern Airlines A380 landed smoothly on the West 1 Runway of Beijing Daxing International Airport, followed by China Eastern Airlines’ A350-900, Air China’s B747-8 and Xiamen Airlines’ B787-9 which landed on the West 2 Runway, East 1 Runway and West 1 Runway respectively. Test flights using passenger aircraft to test flight procedures thus has officially begun at Beijing Daxing International Airport, marking the shift of the focus of the airport from infrastructure construction to operation preparations.

The test flight performed this time is the most crucial task prior to the industry acceptance of Daxing International Airport. According to the plan, the test flights for Daxing International Airport will be divided into three phases. The first phase starting from May 13 consists of basic test flights, which are mainly aimed to test the general support capability of the airport. In August, the airport will conduct special test flights in low visibility conditions, to strive for a low-visibility operation capability that is among the world’s highest. Full-scale test flights will be carried out from August to September to ensure that the airport can operate in a smooth and efficient manner supported by air-ground coordination after it is put into use.
