Recently, Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has officially released the Roadmap for Application of BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) in China’s Civil Aviation (hereinafter referred to as the Roadmap). The Roadmap proposes to vigorously advance the application of BDS, actively build a technology application system for GNSS with BDS at its core, as well as to promote the building and operation of a next-generation air navigation system with focus on PNT (positioning, navigation and timing) in order to achieve high-quality development of civil aviation.

According to the implementation plan, the application of BDS in China’s civil aviation will be divided into three phases, namely short-term (2019-2021), medium-term (2022-2025) and long-term (2026-2035). For each phase, the main tasks to be completed and necessary conditions are specified.
