On February 4 and 5, as a result of yet another round of organization and coordination efforts by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), seven airlines, including Air China, China Eastern Airlines and China Southern Airlines, arranged 14 charter flights to transport urgently needed medical teams to assist Wuhan. As of 03:40 on 5 February, all 1 418 medical staff from 15 medical teams had arrived in Wuhan.
In their response to the nationwide effort to implement a national working mechanism for the joint prevention and control of the disease outbreak, Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Guangxi, Jiangxi, Hebei, Guizhou, Hainan, Fujian, Qinghai, Jilin, Yunnan, Liaoning, Ningxia, Xinjiang and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps dispatched a total of 15 additional medical teams to assist Wuhan. Thanks to the urgent coordination efforts by CAAC, seven airlines, i.e. Air China, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Hainan Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, Hebei Airlines and Jiangxi Airlines, carried out the transport missions. All of the supporting entities in the civil aviation industry conscientiously carried forward and practiced the principles guiding the development of civil aviation in modern era, worked together through coordination, initiated once again the mechanism for guaranteeing major transport activities in case of emergency, and provided the robust support on the shortest notice.
Up to now, a total of 13 domestic airlines have operated a total of 59 flights, transporting 7 320 medical staff and 276 tons of accompanying materials.
