On February 7, CAAC organized and coordinated 13 emergency charter flights transporting medical teams to assist Wuhan. That night, nearly 2,000 medical staff and some medical supplies from all over the country arrived in Wuhan, and they immediately reinforced medical institutions in Hubei.
According to the unified deployment of the joint prevention and control mechanism of the novel coronavirus, 9 provinces (regions, municipalities) namely Beijing, Shanghai, Jilin, Shandong, Sichuan, Guangdong, Shaanxi, Jiangxi, and Xinjiang have sent 18 medical teams to Wuhan. This batch of charter flights were performed by six domestic airlines including Air China, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Sichuan Airlines, Shandong Airlines, and Jiangxi Airlines. Among them, Air China's two large wide-body passenger aircraft transported 668 medical personnel and 28 tons of preventive materials from six well-known Beijing hospitals to Wuhan. This was also the charter flight mission that carried the largest number of personnel by Air China since the beginning of the outbreak.
Up to now, a total of 13 domestic airlines have performed 72 missions for medical teams, transported 9,501 personnel, and 376 tons of accompanying luggage and supplies.
