On June 23, CAAC held an information sharing teleconference with Hong Kong and Macao civil aviation authorities on epidemic prevention and control as well as industrial relief measures. During the conference, information on the current status of the civil aviation industry and industrial relief measures, and experience in disease prevention and control were shared to discuss ways of balancing epidemic prevention with industrial recovery.

CAAC Chief Pilot Wan Xiangdong made a keynote speech at the conference, in which he introduced the experience of CAAC in epidemic prevention and control. The Department of Flight Standard, Department of Development Planning, and the Department of International Affairs respectively introduced CAAC’s technical guidance on epidemic prevention and control, the supportive policies for the industry to tackle the pandemic, and China’s participation in ICAO’s work. The Civil Aviation Department of Hong Kong, the Airport Authority Hong Kong and the Civil Aviation Authority of Macao introduced the operation of the civil aviation industry, the adoption of control measures and the implementation of relief policies in Hong Kong and Macao respectively. The conference agreed that COVID-19 had a huge impact on the civil aviation industry in both the mainland, as well as Hong Kong and Macao, which required strengthened coordination and concerted effort to overcome difficulties, ensure aviation safety, improve the level of epidemic prevention, accelerate industrial recovery, and participate in international cooperation.
