On the evening of September 8, 2020, CAAC attended the second online technical meeting held by the ICAO Council Aviation Recovery Taskforce (CART), and shared as invited practices and experience on the prevention and control of COVID-19 and recovery of industry operation. Over 60 representatives and advisors from countries such as America, Canada, Columbia, Singapore, UK and Spain, and international organizations such as IATA, ACI, ICCAIA and EASA participated in the meeting.
CAAC introduced that traffic of civil aviation in August 2020 has recovered to 90 percent of the level achieved in the same period last year, shared practices and experience on policy support, operation safety, coordination mechanism for pandemic prevention and control, public health, technical guidelines, pandemic risk assessment, express channels and screening and quarantine, and emphasized that the measures taken by China in the prevention and control and industry recovery are compliant with the key principles and recommendations developed by CART. In addition, based on the actual practices and data of China’s civil aviation industry during its operation recovery, CAAC proposed advice on the revision and improvement of ICAO Take-off: Guidance for Air Travel through the COVID-19 Public Health Crisis from the aspects of airport fast nucleic acid testing, crew nucleic acid testing, seating of sick passengers discovered in-flight, temperature screening standards for passengers and crew, quarantine observation on-arrival, types of aircraft disinfectants and choice of nucleic acid testing samples.
