Feng Zhenglin Holds Working-level Talks with Secretary of Hubei Provincial Party Committee Ying Yong and Governor Wang Xiaodong22/09/2020

On September 17, during his trip to Hubei, CAAC Administrator Feng Zhenglin held working-level talks with the province’s Provincial Party Committee Secretary Ying Yong and its Governor Wang Xiaodong. During the occasion, Feng Zhenglin was briefed on the province’s opinions and suggestions on civil aviation development and reform, and signed the Strategic Cooperation Agreement between the Civil Aviation Administration of China and the Hubei People’s Government on Driving the Expedited High-quality Civil Aviation Development in Hubei (hereinafter referred to as the Cooperation Agreement). Present at the talks were Wang Zhonglin, member of the Standing Committee of the Hubei Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Wuhan Municipal Party Committee, and Vice Governor Cao Guangjing.

Included in the Cooperation Agreement were practical and effective measures in 11 aspects, including aviation hub planning, flight schedule resources allocation, airspace structure optimization, and general aviation industry development. In particular, the Agreement incorporated specific policies and measures aimed at addressing the pressing difficulties in the civil aviation sector in Hubei, set a time-frame for cooperation, and identified the specific responsibilities and tasks of both sides.

According to statistics, during the pandemic, the whole civil aviation sector operated a total of 1033 flights to Hubei, transporting 14000 tons of pandemic prevention and control supplies, and carrying 73500 medical staff. At present, the civil aviation sector in Hubei is gradually picking up pace in its recovery. In August, airports in Hubei saw respective month-on-month increases of 30.4%, 28.6% and 23.2% in the number of passengers carried, the tons of cargo and mail transported and the number of aircraft movements. On September 16, Wuhan Airport resumed its international operation on one route, the first such operation since January 23.
