In order to thoroughly implement the guiding principles from the important instructions by President Xi Jinping on coordinating pandemic control with economic and social development, CAAC Administrator Feng Zhenglin led a research team to Hubei Province. The trip was to make a research on local civil aviation development, be informed on the progress achieved in the resumption of work and production in the civil aviation sector in Hubei and in the construction of Ezhou Airport, and extend appreciation to the front-line civil aviation staff in Hubei who contributed immensely to the fight against the pandemic in Hubei.

At present, the civil aviation sector in Hubei has restored 90% of its domestic passenger traffic compared to the same period last year. Construction of Ezhou Airport started in the second half of 2019 and is expected to be put into operation in 2022. Designed to handle 3.3 million metric tons of mail and cargo by 2030, the airport, when completed, will become the fourth one in the world and the first one in Asia specialized in freight transport. In addition, accelerated progress is being made in such projects as Hubei International Logistics Hub and Jingzhou Airport.
