During the 2021 Spring Festival holiday, civil aviation entities strictly implemented the overall deployment and specific requirements of CAAC on the provision of transport services and COVID-19 containment during the travel rush and put in place strict containment measures, which ensured the safe, smooth and orderly operation of civil aviation. Civil aviation transported a total of 3.57 million passengers, a sharp drop from the previous years; the flight regularity rate reached 96.17%; cargo flights performed well, with an increase of 212.48% over the same period last year.
During the 7-day Spring Festival holiday, the number of air passenger trips decreased by 45.16% and 71.64% over the same period in 2020 and 2019 respectively; the average passenger load factor was 57.51%, which increased by 5.78 percentage points over 2020; the flight regularity rate was 96.17%, up by 5.56% over 2020 and 12.57% over 2019. 47,088 flights were performed, with an average of 6,727 flights per day, which decreased by 51.64% and 57.72% respectively over the 2020 and 2019 Spring Festival holiday. The peak came on February 17 when 11,683 flights were performed.
In particular, the number of cargo flights during the Spring Festival holiday this year increased significantly compared with the previous two years. 2,553 cargo flights were performed on international and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan routes, which increased by 212.48% over the same period of the 2020, and up by 258.57% over the same period of 2019.
