On July 28-29, CAAC Deputy Administrator Lyu Erxue made a fact-finding visit at Xinjiang where he attended the Conference on Promoting the Remote Control Tower Pilot Program. At the conference, Lyu underscored the need to thoroughly implement the general guidelines of CAAC for the 14th Five-Year Plan period, enhance organization and leadership, make careful deployment, and ensure new headway and breakthroughs in the pilot program, so as to make greater contributions to pursue safe development and build China into a civil aviation powerhouse.

It is reported that the Remote Control Tower Pilot Program of Xinjiang Airport Group Co., Ltd was officially approved in April 2018, and passed the pre-operation review by experts from CAAC in March 2021. As of July 25, 2021, the remote control tower has supported 746 safe movements of civil aircraft.
