On August 2, in response to the epidemic resurgence and the rapid spread of Delta variant, CAAC released an urgent notice to call for further strengthening the COVID-19 control on domestic flights and at airports, by increasing the frequency of nucleic acid tests for relevant staff members and promoting full implementation of control measures for domestic flights and airports.
The notice required relevant entities to increase the frequency of nucleic acid tests for crew members on domestic flights and airport staff. In view of the characteristics of Delta variant, all airlines and airports are required, in accordance with the requirements and arrangements of local governments, to enable the staff to take nucleic acid tests free of charge and include them into the scope of local compulsory tests based on testing frequency jointly determined by the Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism of the State Council, CAAC and local governments. Front-line staff who provide related services to international passengers, imported cargo and aircraft at ports of entry are considered high risk and shall take nucleic acid tests every other day. Crew members and support personnel working on domestic flights, and logistical support and management personnel who are in contact with the above front-line staff shall have nucleic acid testing twice a week with an interval of more than 2 days.
