On August 4, the Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism of the State Council (the Joint Mechanism) held a press conference in Beijing. Feng Zhenglin, CAAC Administrator, attended the conference and underscored that CAAC will maintain existing in-flight prevention efforts and implement more stringent ground control measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 through the civil aviation sector.

According to Feng Zhenglin, when the epidemic resurged at Nanjing Lukou Airport on July 20, CAAC, by earnestly implementing President Xi Jinping's important instructions and Premier Li Keqiang's requirements, and following the unified arrangement of the Joint Mechanism, immediately made efforts to respond to COVID-19. To this end, CAAC promptly sent two experts to conduct epidemiological investigations and, in cooperation with Jiangsu provincial government, established three working teams at the airport.

Mr. Feng stressed that in order to win the fight against the epidemic, CAAC will establish a joint management mechanism with local governments that coordinates the epidemic prevention and control, so as to contain the spread of the epidemic through the civil aviation industry and guard the bottom line of aviation safety.
