February 1 marked the first day of Chinese New Year when it was sunny, mildly windy and full of vitality. At about 10 o’clock on the morning of the day, CAAC Administrator Feng Zhenglin came to the Capital International Airport to visit civil aviation’s frontline staff who held fast to their posts during the Spring Festival and extended New Year’s greetings and wishes to them.

At the apron, Feng Zhenglin expressed greetings to crew members of Air China, China Eastern Airlines, Hainan Airlines and ground handling personnel respectively, sent them flowers and gifts and took photos with them. He said “2021 saw pressures and tests in the civil aviation industry. But the industry managed to stabilize the fundamental development and made progress amid adversity by carrying forward the spirit of serving the people and developing through innovation. In 2022, the civil aviation industry will usher in a new starting point and we shall make every effort to score new accomplishments in the industry.”

In the western tower of North Regional Air Traffic Management Bureau, Feng Zhenglin extended greetings to on-duty controllers and armed policemen, shook hands and took photos with them. Feng inquired about the support provided for the 2022 Beijing Olympics, including the number of flights, peak hours and relevant support efforts, highlighting that they shall hold to their posts and successfully complete tasks related to support for the Beijing Olympic Winter Games. Besides, he remarked: “the air control system has played a major role in helping the civil aviation in realizing more than 80% of flight regularity for four consecutive years. Notable progress has been made in reform of air traffic management, particularly in terms of innovation, service and management. And the Operation Management Center of Civil Aviation, the Meteorological Center of Civil Aviation and the Information Management Center of Civil Aviation have been put into operation. Especially during the period of COVID-19 containment, the air traffic management system has always ensured support for flights, hence making contribution to the safe development of the civil aviation industry. I hope that all staff will continue to fulfil the duties responsibly so as to ensure safe and smooth operation of flights.”
