CAAC Establishes Supervision Team to Carry out Safety Supervision06/04/2022

After the crash of China Eastern Flight MU5735 on March 21, CAAC immediately launched the level 1 emergency response and implemented the important instructions and requirements of President Xi Jinping and other central leaders. The “Emergency Notice on Strengthening Aviation Safety” was released in time to deploy and carry out safety inspections. In order to implement inspection, check for hidden dangers and emphasize accountabilities, CAAC decided to send a supervision team to carry out safety supervision in the north and southwest China from March 29 to 31.

The supervision team was composed of CAAC leaders, the three chief officials, and personnel from the relevant departments and bureaus. The supervision focused on three aspects: first, CAAC North and Southwest Regional Administrations’ prompt communication and implementation of the instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping and other central leaders, the requirements of the Work Safety Committee of the State Council, and the recent deployments of safety work of CAAC; second, the supervision of the two regional Administrations’ inspections in their respective jurisdictions in accordance with the requirements of the “inspections in six aspects”; third, whether the airlines have carried out self-inspection in the areas of personnel qualification management, operational risk control, and continuous airworthiness and maintenance of the aircraft. Regional supervision entities went to the front line to check for hidden dangers and conduct inspections, and examine the implementation of the annual supervision program and administrative inspections in the form of “Four Withouts and Two Directs”.
