On May 12, CAAC issued circuit-breaker orders for Flight CA988 (Los Angeles to Tianjin) by Air China and Flight MH376 (Kuala Lumpur to Guangzhou) by Malaysia Airlines.

According to CAAC, six cases of COVID-19 were confirmed on Flight CA988 which entered China on May 2, and five on Flight MH376 which entered China on May 2. Starting from May 23, the two flights will be suspended for 2 weeks. The quotas for the flights shall not be transferred to other routes.

CAAC requires the two airlines to provide reassurance and other services such as ticket change and refund for passengers of the suspended flights.
