CAAC held its monthly plenary session of Aviation Safety Committee on August 15 to earnestly learn and act in good faith on the important instructions made by President Xi Jinping on civil aviation safety, put in place the spirits of the national teleconference on safe production and safety-related instructions made by CPC Central Committee, analyze the development of civil aviation safety in July, and made planning for further improvement of civil aviation safety. Administrator of CAAC Song Zhiyong stressed that the entire civil aviation industry should follow the instructions made by President Xi on safe production and civil aviation safety, make every effort to enhance safety regulation and strictly guard the bottom line on safety and life. With these efforts, a better and safer environment can be created for the recovery and growth of civil aviation to anticipate the successful 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. Deputy Administrators of CAAC Dong Zhiyi, Lyu Erxue, Cui Xiaofeng and Hu Zhenjiang as well as Liu Fang attended the meeting.

Song Zhiyong added that civil aviation safety remained stable in July with the rolling value of the rate of incidents attributable to human factors per 10 000 flight hours below the annual average and both the rate of severe incidents and the rate of incidents attributable to human factors per 10 000 flight hours decreasing year-on-year at a time when traffic volume surged compared with the previous month. Generally speaking, civil aviation transport and production showed a trend of recovery with a significant growth of domestic flights to over 60% of pre-pandemic levels in the same period. Meanwhile, flight regularity rate reached 89.1% despite frequent raining weather.
