On June 5, CAAC Administrator Song Zhiyong met with a delegation led by Juan Carlos Salazar, Secretary General of International Civil Aviation Organization, in Beijing. The two sides exchanged views on the cooperation in civil aviation areas including global aviation recovery, capacity building among professionals, energy conservation and emissions reduction. Cui Xiaofeng, Deputy Administrator of CAAC, also attended the meeting.

Song said that CAAC has always attached great importance to strengthening cooperation with ICAO in aviation safety, aviation fuel, application of new technologies and other issues related to the development of the industry, and supported ICAO’s leading role in the development of global civil aviation. Presently, China’s civil aviation operation safety remains stable, and transport operation is recovering steadily. The next step of CAAC is to further deepen the cooperation with ICAO, its Asia and Pacific Regional Office, and Beijing Sub-Office in the areas of safety, security, sustainable development, and capacity building for professionals.
Mr. Salazar expressed gratitude to China for its support for ICAO. He said China has made great contributions to the development of global civil aviation industry. The high-level safety and high-speed development of China’s civil aviation has attracted worldwide attention. It also takes the lead in the application of new technologies and aviation energy conservation and emissions reduction. ICAO values China’s important role in the development of global civil aviation and hopes to deepen cooperation with CAAC in all aspects so as to contribute to the development of civil aviation of both China and the world.
