In his remarks, Song Zhiyong noted that over the past 10 years, the Asia-Pacific region has emerged as an engine for the development of the global aviation industry thanks to its rapidly growing air passenger and cargo traffic, and China’s civil aviation also made great strides forward. Grateful for the trust and support from ICAO and the Asia-Pacific member countries, China, as a member of the ICAO family, has always been committed to promoting the safe and sustainable development of international civil aviation, cooperating with ICAO on all fronts, and taking the initiative to share China’s experience and development opportunities. As the host country, China has provided support to RSO in the form of finance, human resources and working spaces during the past 10 years. Going forward, with its over 1.4 billion people moving into a modern society, China will be well-positioned to offer stronger momentum and greater opportunities to the civil aviation of the Asia-Pacific region and even the entire world. China’s civil aviation stands ready to work with other countries in adhering to the priority of safety and development, strengthening cooperation in areas such as maintaining aviation safety, cushioning the impact of the pandemic, promoting green development and building industry resilience, aligning the Global Development Initiative with ICAO’s No Country Left Behind initiative, and therefore promoting the safe, efficient and sustainable development of the global and regional civil aviation industry.
