On July 26, a thematic video meeting on publicity and implementation of policies on airport obstacle clearance protection zones was held by CAAC and the Ministry of Natural Resources of the People’s Republic of China (MNR). The meeting aims to implement the important instructions of President Xi Jinping “to ensure the absolute safety of aviation operation and the absolute safety of people’s lives”, and further deepen the understanding of applicable policies by relevant entities of civil aviation and local governments, so as to ensure the effective control of risks related to obstacle clearance at airports and to improve airports’ obstacle clearance protection zone governance systems and capabilities.  

The Department of Airport of CAAC interpreted the Administrative Measures for the Review of Obstacle Clearance of Construction Projects in the Obstacle Clearance Protection Zones of Airports and the CAAC Guidelines on Prevention and Control of Objects Floating in the Air at Transport Airports (Trial). Yunnan SSMB and Xiamen Airport shared their experience in the review of obstacle clearance of construction projects in the obstacle clearance protection zones of airports and the prevention and control of objects floating in the air respectively. The Department of National Land and Space Use and Control of MNR and relevant departments of CAAC made specific requirements for the next step in light of their responsibilities.
